Automobiles in German City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Officers mentioned they were alerted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Around fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.

Police state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then found many other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they added.

City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A senior official said the vandalism rendered him speechless and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
