Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them little choice but to head to Timmony in quest for the traitor.

What’s Next?

From episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.

Fans can expect discovering which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
