Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
